Sri Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma

Guru, performer and choreographer of the Kuchipudi tradition

Sri Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma

Rooted in the sacred soil of Kuchipudi village, Andhra Pradesh, Sri Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma Garu carries the legendary artistic heritage of the revered Pasumarthy lineage. His journey began under the meticulous guidance of Sri Vedantam Radheshyam and Sri P.V.G. Krishna Sarma, before being refined through advanced training under the iconic Padma Bhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam.

Since making his debut in the 1977 ballet Parvathi Parinayam at Siddhendra Kalakshetram, he has captivated audiences with his dynamic stage presence. Most notably, his commanding portrayal of Keechaka in Keechaka Vadha stands as a definitive, acclaimed signature of his performing career.

Beyond his magnetic presence as a performer, his artistic vision shines brilliantly through his contributions as a choreographer and dedicated guru. He has enriched the classical repertoire by composing celebrated ballets such as Kumarasambhavam, Mahishasuramardhini, and Varudhini Pravarakhya.

Dedicated to preserving and passing on this art form since 1980, he established the Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Kuchipudi Natya Kalakshetram. Through his academy, he continues to shape future generations of dancers, blending tradition with creative brilliance.
